At Pure Paws Haven, the health and well-being of every parrot in our care is our highest priority. We are committed to ensuring that each bird is healthy, properly socialized, and ready for a safe transition into their new home.
Before adoption, every bird receives a full wellness evaluation and ongoing care from experienced avian professionals. We work hard to provide healthy diets, clean living environments, mental stimulation, and proper medical attention for every rescued parrot.
Our Health Commitment
Every parrot adopted from Pure Paws Haven includes:
- Comprehensive physical health evaluation
- General wellness examination
- Observation for behavioral and emotional health
- Proper nutritional care
- Feather and body condition assessment
- Clean and safe housing environment
- Socialization and enrichment activities
- Monitoring for signs of illness or stress
We do our best to ensure each bird is healthy at the time of adoption. However, due to the sensitive nature of parrots and the stress associated with transportation and environmental changes, we strongly encourage adopters to schedule an avian veterinary wellness check within 72 hours of receiving their bird.
72-Hour Health Notification Policy
If your licensed avian veterinarian determines that your bird has a serious pre-existing health condition within 72 hours of delivery or pickup, you must notify us immediately and provide written veterinary documentation.
Once verified, we will work with you to determine an appropriate resolution based on the situation.
Ongoing Care Responsibility
Parrots are highly intelligent and sensitive animals that require lifelong care and commitment. After adoption, the adopter assumes responsibility for:
- Routine veterinary care
- Proper nutrition
- Safe housing
- Socialization and enrichment
- Grooming and hygiene
- Emotional well-being
Proper care is essential for maintaining a parrot’s long-term health and happiness.
Important Notice
Because rescued parrots often come from unknown backgrounds, Pure Paws Haven cannot guarantee against future illnesses, behavioral developments, feather conditions, or age-related health concerns that may arise after adoption.
We encourage all adopters to continue routine avian veterinary care throughout the bird’s life.
